It’s been said that, each one of us can make a difference, but together we can make a change. With this thought in mind, all the priests ordained from 2018-2024 in the Order of Discalced Carmelites Malabar Province, convened at Mount Carmel Provincial House in Trivandrum from 10 th April to 12 th as part of the ongoing priest formation programme known as “Zelatus Sum.”
The three day short lived programme included orientation talk by Rev. Fr Provincial as well as other classes which was led by, Rev. Fr Bobby Kannezhathu SDB and Rev. Fr James Alakkuzhiyil OCD. The resource persons had their sessions titled ‘My Priestly LIfe: Reviewing and Re fuelling’ as well as ‘Zealous & Prudent Communicator’. Rev. Fr Peter Chakiath OCD, Provincial Malabar Province also led a small session titled‘Zeal for the Carmelite Priestly Life’.
Every session was thought-provoking and instructive for our vocation as religious priests. Along with games, movie nights, and dinner out, we also shared moments of fraternity. In an effort to improve the inspiration and joy of our religious priestly life, we also had the opportunity to communicate and share with our authorities our worries, expectations, and dreams. The sessions were greatly appreciated by all of the participants.
Everyone concurred that it was thoughtfully and methodically set up. We are really thankful to Rev Fr Provincial as well as Rev. Fr Francis Chittuparambil, the Councillor in-charge of Formation, for arranging such a course. We are incredibly appreciative to Rev. Provincial and Rev. Fr. Francis Chittuparambil OCD, the Councillor overseeing Formation, for setting up this course, and we hope to see more of them in the future.
