Rev. Fr. Peter Thomas Plathottathil OCD of St. Ann, passed away on 23rd January, 1981, at the age of 64 in 43rd year of his Profession.
Fr. Boniface was born on 16th March, 1917 in the noble family Plathottathil at Manimala belonging to the Archdiocese of Changanacherry. His parents were Thomas Plathottathil and Thresia. He joined in the Order of the discalced Carmelites, Malabar Semi-Province in 1936. After an year of Postulancy, he entered in Novitiate at Carmel Hill Monastery, Thiruvananthapuram on 26th July, 1937 as Br. Peter Thomas Plathottathil OCD of St. Ann. He made his Simple Profession on 27th July, 1938 at Thuckalay and Solemn Profession on 27th July, 1941. After the Philosophy from Carmel Hill, he went to Thuckalay for his Theology studies. He was ordained priest on 14th April, 1945 by Mgr. Agniswamy, S.J., Kottar Bishop.
Fr. Peter Thomas served the Malabar Semi-Province at various positions – Professor, Procurator, Manager, St. Joseph’s Press, Thiruvananthapuram, Director, Apostolic School, Asst. Provincial Procurator, Prior, Provincial Councilor and Manager of Carmel Building and Carmel Centre, Ernakulam.
Rev. Fr. Peter Thomas Plathottathil OCD was elected as the 2nd Provincial Councilor of Malabar Semi-Province (1951-54) by the Provincial Council on 2nd February 1951 in the place of Rev. Fr. Martin of the Virgin of Carmel OCD who was resigned.

About seven years, Rev. Fr. Peter Thomas Plathottathil OCD was suffering from Leukemia (Blood Cancer) and was often hospitalized. His last 13 months with the exception of few days spent in Lissie Hospital, Ernakulam. On 31st December, 1980, he received the Last Sacraments from Cardinal Joseph Parekattil. After receiving Absolution from Rev. Fr. Ephrem Parathazham OCD, Rev. Fr. Peter Thomas Plathottathil OCD of St. Ann slept in the Lord on 23rd January, 1981. His mortal remains were brought to Carmel Hill Monastery, Thiruvananthapuram and was interred in the Monastery crypt on 24th January, 1981.
Rev. Fr. Peter Thomas Plathottathil OCD of St. Ann was a fervent religious and an able Administrator.
